Vulcanised 'O'-rings are specialised, custom-made ‘O’-rings for exclusive applications. They are crafted from the extruded cord, allowing the supply of any specified inside diameter, starting from 180mm. They provide a cost-effective and fast solution when a moulded 'O'-ring is unavailable.
The Benefits of Vulcanised 'O'-rings
Vulcanised 'O'-rings are produced using a 45° scarf, joined through a vulcanising process providing a barely visible seamless join, which replicates the overall extruded core strength. Manufactured to order, on short lead times and available in various cross section sizes, material grades and hardness options.
- No full moulds required, minimising cost for non-standard inside diameters
- Cord extrusion and 'O'-ring production to ISO tolerance standards
- Short lead time production of any inside diameter above 180mm
- No upper inside diameter limit
- Exceptional vulcanised joint strength
- No loss of elastomeric properties in join area
Size Range and Materials
Vulcanised 'O'-rings are available from 180mm internal diameter with no theoretical maximum diameter and are available,
for exclusive applications, in all common cross sections from 1.78mm up to and including 15.00mm. Vulcan Seals supplies the following materials as standard, with other hardness options and elastomer grades available on request.
• Nitrile – 70/80/90Sh A
• FKM – 75/90Sh A
• EPDM 70Sh A
• Red Silicone 70Sh A (white is also available upon request)
• HNBR 70/90Sh A
