‍What are Chem-Ring® FEP / PFA Encapsulated 'O'-rings?

‍

An encapsulated 'O'-ring is an 'O'-ring bound by a seamless and uniform Fluorinated Ethylene Propylene (FEP) or Pefluoroalkoxy Alkanes (PFA) encapsulation, which encloses an elastomeric core, completely protecting it from the media. The elastomeric core provides the energising sealing force, available in Silicone or Viton™/FKM. White Viton™/FKM available on request.

‍The Difference Between FEP and PFA Encapsulated Chem-Ring®

‍

FEP is resistant to most industrial chemicals, matching PTFE’s own resistance to caustic agents.

• Continuous temperature limit of 205ºC (400°F), short durations up to 260ºC (500°F)

• Low coefficient of friction

• More flexible than PTFE

PFA has all the characteristics of FEP but with the following additional benefits;

• Continuous temperature limit of 260ºC (500°F), short durations up to 300ºC (572°F)

• A higher mechanical strength for demanding applications

• An increased stress and crack resistance

• Prolonged life and wear resistance
